It’s a rare and fortunate experience for a photographer to be so privileged with such an expressive family Dachshund.  “Sarge” was a gift for and named by my youngest son Ryan, before this dappled guy even left the Renton, Washington pet store.  We first discovered Sarge’s love of the howl when Ryan repeatedly hit the highest key on the living room piano.  Sarge was known from Alki Beach near Seattle, Washington to Montauk Point, Long Island, New York. Sarge could famously be seen dragging a long-neck beer bottle across the back yard.

The Sarge life was anything but dull: from three moves in Seattle, with countless walks around Seward Park or along the Madrona, Lake Washington waterfront; cross country in a moving truck to New Jersey with our 1974 Land Rover in tow, to North Carolina, Eastern Long Island and Rockport Maine.  Adventure, love, making new friends and touching lives was his life. We lost Sarge on March 2, 2020 in Rockport, Maine. Sarge was always Ryan’s charge. They formed a unique and most incredible bond beginning in that Renton pet store in 2005. Sarge: Forever Loved - Forever Missed. Rest in Peace, Good Buddy!
